Rome is a city built on tradition, and its food scene is no exception. From cozy trattorias tucked into cobbled alleys to iconic lunch spots beloved by locals and travelers alike, here’s my curated shortlist for where to dine like a true Roman.

🍝 Matricianella
A charming upper-level trattoria in the historic center. Don’t skip the pasta Amatriciana and Carciofi alla Romana. Special event? Book the underground wine cellar for a preset chef’s menu.

🍷 Taverna Trilussa
Located in Trastevere, it’s casual and lively. The kind of place you roll into with friends and leave completely satisfied.

🕊️ Da Bolognese
Steps from Piazza del Popolo, this old-world restaurant is upscale and timeless. Great for lunch (or dinner), and perfect for people-watching—politicians and power-players included.
Dress Code: Think chic European casual — leave the flip flops and baseball caps 🧢 at home. This is the kind of place where polished style is appreciated.
Reservations: Highly recommended (and often essential)!
